"The moment one person judges or makes fun of another person's skin colour, it shows that his/her level of maturity is low"
Having a 'tan' skin, I once used to feel like an outsider. When I was a kid, the colour of my skin was not an issue back then, everything was nice and dandy. But when I grew up, things have changed.
Looking at commercials in TV or even brochures posted to my room nowadays make me sick.
"Kulit cerah sentiasa"
"Kulit putih melepak memberi jaminan ...."
Just go to the make-up counter, you will understand what Im trying to say. Personal experience taught me.
"You want to buy this make up? Can make u look FAIRER"
"But first, i think you should buy this facial product, it makes your skin to be fairer than now"
Or a normal conversation with friends will be
"Oh God, Im getting darker...gelap gila sangat-sangat..."
(When in fact, Q has a fair skin).
I usually respond such statement by indirectly show that, its not the end of the world, since I am here, standing next to you, happily, with a darker skin tone.
Stereotype. Asians have the tendency to look up on people who have fairer skin. It shows that someone with a fairer skin is from an upper class of society, a rich person, and will inherit good genes.
While looking on the otherside of the globe, the Westerners love to have a tan, darker skin. They say its a sign of wealth and good health.
Look at us, all around us. Normally, the first main question ask after the birth of a child is,
"Kulit dia putih tak?"
And we love to make fun of people who have darker skin.
" Euuuww, kulit dia HITAM" (Padahal tak la hitam mana, sah-sah la kau colour blind, its CHOCOLATE, not BLACK).
Its no fun at all, friends. The affected person will always feel inferior and uneasy over such harsh remark, although it is made towards another dark skin person(a stranger, perhaps) , not towards that particular person.
Even some of us are afraid to marry someone with darker skin tone...fear to have a child with a dark skin tone, when actually, one should fear of the child's future, whether will he/she be a beneficial person to the Ummah, right?
Asians , we are very judgmental. Eh silap, all of us, regardless of continents.Tak payah Asian la, Malaysian, je la kan.
You look a person who has a darker skin tone, you freely assume that he's a culprit. You see a fair skin person, you assume that he is nice fella.
As I grow bigger, horizontally and vertically, I realised that skin colour is the least important thing about a person.
We do love colour,to the extend that we pre-judge a person based on the colour of a person's skin. We forget that Allah creates colours not to degrade each other, but to embrace such differences. The colour of your skin does not assure Jannah, nor does it give a free ticket to Hell.
Even Bilal ibn Rabbah is a dark skin person. :)
Stop the biasness, stop the un-civilised remark over dark skin person. Its not just wrong in the eye of God, but it is morally wrong, too.
Senang cerita, Tak modern la pikir pasal colour of your skin. Tak cool langsung.
Everybody talks bad about somebody
And never realises how it affects somebody
And you bet it won't be forgotten
Envy is the only thing it could be

P/S: Ni baru pasal skin colour, belum pasal race. :)

1 craps and facts:
orang kulit putih nampak lembik. sekian.
